Taylor Swift: Speak Now Maintains Billboard Top Spot

She’s no stranger to success, and Taylor Swift’s latest album Speak Now is holding steady at the #1 position on the Billboard albums chart.

However, the “Should’ve Said No” singer’s spot sets a new record for the lowest sales of a number one album, moving just 52,000 units last week.

Apparently the New Year has been sluggish for record sales overall, as the “Country Strong” soundtrack only sold 28,000 copies despite Gwyneth Paltrow’s hit song.
The Top 10 included, Swift, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, “Tron: Legacy,” Eminem, Rihanna, Kanye West, Mumford & Sons, and Jason Aldean.

Those were the reasons cited by sources for Jake Gyllenhaal’s decision to split with Taylor Swift after a few weeks of dating.
But the latest issue of Us Weekly claims to have all the real scoop on the break-up, highlighted by this supposed fact: Jake dumped Taylor Swift over the phone!
If true, this would mark the second time Swift has received sad news in such a manner. Joe Jonas (in)famously broke her heart with a 27-second call a couple years ago.

How is Taylor Swift taking the split? Not well.

At last week’s People’s Choice Awards, a friend says the singer “was not her usual bubbly self. She didn’t eat anything, seemed very sad and definitely wasn’t having a good time.”

At one point, Taylor Swift found Selena Gomez and reportedly and said to her: ‘It’s so good to see you. I need a friend tonight.’”

She’s no stranger to award shows, so it was no surprise to see Taylor Swift in attendance at this year’s People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday (January 5).
The “You Belong With Me” singer looked gorgeous per the usual as she happily smiled for pictures while posing arm-in-arm with Zac Efron at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Ms Swift is up for two awards tonight – Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Country Artist.

In other news, word has it Taylor and short-term boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal have called it quits after dating for just a few months.

Taylor Swift Suffers A Lonely Day Without Jake Gyllenhaal

Taylor Swift, who reportedly enjoyed celebrating Xmas with her mother and brother holidaying in Turks and Caicos, made her way back to Nashville, TN this week to prepare for the new year … sans Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, it’s not yet known if Taylor was able to ring in 2011 with Jakey poo last night but on New Year’s Eve eve she was rollin’ all by her lonesome with one of her BFFs. Look how sad she looks.

Taylor and her female friend grabbed a bite to eat together … but Taylor looked so bummed. Trust me, if I had been hanging out with Jake Gyllenhaal a lot and then suddenly I wasn’t, I’d be inconsolable. I guess we’ll have to see what 2011 has in store for Taylor and Jake. Do you think they’ll be together for much longer? Were they ever really together in the first place?

Swift, 21, rang in 2011 in Nashville, solo, at a party, while Gyllenhaal, 30, was in New York, where he attended a closing party for Broadway’s Fela! on Jan. 2. While in the Big Apple, Gyllenhaal was also spotted dining with his mother at the Spotted Pig. After spending Thanksgiving weekend together, the two were last seen publicly together on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles.

Let’s have a moment of silence over the death of this sham, er, romance. I guess those photos of Taylor Swift lookin’ super sad as she roamed the streets of Nashville, TN last weekend were our first sign that she was Jake Gyllenhalless … poor lamb, I’d be sad, too! Ah well … ’tis better to have loved and lost and all that jazz. At least now Taylor has at least an album’s worth of heartbreak (and an $11k guitar) to write a new album. Jake is a single man, y’all. Happy Days are here again!! Shall we dance?!

Taylor Swift To Be Featured On Rachael Ray Show

 -  Taylor Swift made a pit stop on the Rachael Ray Show recently, for an episode that will air on January 3.

The cooking show host asked the "Back to December" star some fun questions like which celebrity she would want to sing a duet with. She also asked who would she go skydiving with during their interview segment.

Swift left her newest romance Jake Gyllenhaal off of the list of who she would want to take her prom. She instead invited a group of other celebrities.

"Katy Perry would be so much fun. She's just, like, crazy fun and, like, spontaneous," said Swift to Ray. "Diddy has always been very nice to me. Justin Timberlake is the same way, he's really funny. And Sheryl Crow is really down to earth and really cool."

The 21-year-old also revealed who her dance partner would be without a doubt.

Gwyneth Paltrow 'Like A Sister' To Taylor Swift

  -  Gwyneth Paltrow has made headlines for her country music performances over the last year and now it seems she has even become a mentor to Taylor Swift. According to a new report from popeater.com, the 38-year-old singer/actress is like an older sister to the country starlet.

"Taylor loves her brother Austin, who is two years younger than her, but she has always wanted a sister and has fell in love with Gwyneth," a source close to Taylor told the blog.

Paltrow recently made her first major appearance as a singer at the CMT Awards singing a song from the upcoming film Country Strong. The source adds that Swift and Paltrow often chat about their careers and even their relationships.

"She met Gwyneth through her musician husband, Chris Martin, and has formed a great friendship." The insider added, "They email and call each other all the time. They talk a lot about music, performing and acting but they also talk about normal stuff like boys and dates."

 Taylor Swift has held on to the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart for the fourth straight week with her smash hit Speak Now. This week the country/pop starlet beat out strong competition from Nicki Minaj, whose Pink Friday jumped two spots from number four.

Bruno Mars also made a big push on the 200 chart this week as his album Doo-Wops & Hooligans climbed from number seven to number three. The Tron: Legacy soundtrack featuring Daft Punk also climbed two spots from number six.

Eminem fell three spots this week to round out the top five.

Swift's Speak Now made a historic number one debut in October, selling over one million copies in its first week. The release made the country cutie just the third female artist ever to sell one million copies in the first week of a release.

Speak Now has since been certified triple platinum by the RIAA.
