Taylor Swift Tour Dates 2011-Fighting Dragons With Taylor

Taylor Swift Tour Dates 2011-Fighting Dragons With Taylor

Fighting dragons of course alludes to the line in Taylor Swifts song “Long Live”. Taylor will definitely have her dragons to fight. Generally from those who are jealous of her. There is a lot to be jealous of.She is attractive, talented, and a multi millionaire. And that of course means some people out there will dislike you.
Some of the dragons came in the form of those that criticized her singing. We live in a world of technology, and a majority of music these days is over-produced combinations of sample technology and effects.Taylor Swift is not your common diva. Its correct that Taylor is not a power voice celebrity Like Christina A. for example. But do we really need more of those?
As a musician of a great many years, I will testify that Taylor can indeed sing, and she also does a nice job with the harmony tracks on her albums. Taylor is more of a down to earth artist. There are no super kick drum tracks and vocal loops. Often it comes down to just her and her guitar.

Taylor is in my observations a songwriter first. In the case of “Speak Now” she had the tricky job of competing with her own album “Fearless”. “Fearless” was a very successful album to say the least. With “Speak Now” Taylor had to prove that she could keep producing powerful tracks like “You Belong With me” and others. Thats no easy task since these songs were top notch.Im happy to report that “Speak Now” does prove that she is an excellent songwriter.

The songs on “Speak Now” are very private and very ambitious. She did just what she should have done. She kept up with the popular hits, while breaking new ground. “Innocent” for example almost sounds like a sad cabaret song, slightly disonent yet remarkably catchy. “Haunted” is another personal favorite which is much more of a rock song than her usual style. Her songs are of such quality that I know a number of other artists could record them succesfully. But, I would rather hear Taylor sing them.

Taylor has nothing to worry about. She is a great songwriter and performer, and Im sure she will outlast many of todays artists. She is also grateful and appreciative of her notoriety. In a world where millionaire teen stars are put in jail weekly,or caught on film with drugs, Taylor is a breath of fresh air. She writes about her good fortune in “Long Live”. Incidentally, her lyrics are pretty impressive as well.

Taylor will no doubt face many dragons.Trying to please everyone all the time. Trying to keep up her exemplary role model actions, trying to remain popular without compromise. Trying to keep true to herself and have a decent life away from the spotlight. But dont worry Taylor, there is an army of us more than ready to be “fighting dragons with you.”
