Taylor Swift’s "Mean" About A Real-Life Experience

Taylor Swift’s "Mean" About A Real-Life Experience

Taylor Swift’s latest hit, “Mean”, all began when the 21-year-old superstar wrote down her thoughts and feelings about a certain person who had written very “mean” things about her, and put it to music. So, to see it physically and emotionally connect with fans on tour is especially gratifying to Taylor. “It‟s just really fun to see Mean do well…especially based on what I wrote that song about and based on the fact that it came from me going through a really tough time in writing that song, because I felt so powerless I just didn’t know what else to say or what else to do,"she says".

And hearing that song being sung louder than my voice is coming through the P.A. in a stadium is sort of the coolest experience of my life, because when you write a song and it comes from such a vulnerable moment in my life and then you get to stand on a stage and the affirmation that 50,000 people have gone through that too and they’re singing along, it’s been kind of wonderful.

The song, which was officially certified Gold this week, received the same response Saturday night for the capacity crowd at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field during another stadium stop on Taylor’s Speak Now World Tour. The Heinz Field stop marks her third stadium performance within the past week, coupled with last weekend’s plays at Detroit‟s Ford Field and Nashville’s LP Field. Listen to Taylor:
